This hands-on course focuses on the technology and issues involved in theinterconnection of computer networks and computing systems. In thiscourse you design a multivendor network employing the current state ofnetworking architectures and protocols including local area networks(LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), andGlobal Area Networks (GANs). The course discusses many alternativetechnologies for interconnection, including protocol compatibility andthe use of gateways, bridges and routers. The key issues ofperformance, security, management and control for each of thesetechnologies and alternatives are discussed. System analysts andinformation managers involved in the design, implementation, integration,or selection of equipment for either multiple network and/or multipleplatform environments will find this course beneficial. Attendees mayalso be responsible for installation, support, and maintenance of suchenvironments.
